If you are looking for a list of projects out there from companies like Lionbridge and Appen, we have them. As you may know Appen acquired Leapforce in 2017, since then the company has decided to close it is own project management platform known as Appen Global and move all projects to Appen connect. The group of projects known as Falcon (mainly Facebook-related projects) now is no longer actual, these projects also have been moved to Appen connect platform.
Taking into account the fact that all projects have code names and little description is provided, many candidates might be lost in terms what project to go for.
Bellow you will find a list of most popular projects and links to more info about each project:

WOW – Thank You for Posting this Info!!! It is EXACTLY what I needed to know in order to proceed forward with my “Appen Connect” Qualifications. Once Again→ Thank You, Thank you, Thank You!!! CL☺
I am happy to know that you found my blog useful!
Hello Tim,
I’m participating in the Falcon project as a Social Media Evaluator right now but I’ve just received an email from Appen Recruitment Team about an opening for Internet Analyst, are these two projects compatible? I’ve also applied for the Internet Safety Evaluator position with Lionbridge and now I’m confused cause the names of the latter sound alike.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Hi! according to what I know you can partecipate in more than one project for Appen until you don’t get over the maximum of 30 hours/week. I’ve read somewhere that you can’t work in similar projects for two companies (Appen and Lionbridge). Anyway..be careful but wait for Tim’s answer.
Good luck 🙂
Hello! Thank you very much for sharing your experience! I’m working with Appen since july and until now I’ve partecipate in 4 projects. I usually go for my personal judgement according to my experience even if there are multiple and different review about this company. I never had a single problem but I have a question: I’ve done a practice quiz for a new project and not feeling comfortable with the task itself I decided to not proceed with the final quiz. I was wondering if it’s true that if you fail to match certain requirement level you won’t be offered another position anymore?
Hello, normally candidates and active raters are allowed to try different projects, failing one or more different projects’ qualifications does not necessary mean that raters will not be offered another project to try.
Thank you! I’ll try something different then 🙂
Do you know anything about some recently added Appen Connect projects called “Mohawk”, “Prospect MI”, and “Zeya”??? Thanks for any info!!!
Do you know anything about some recently added Appen Connect Projects called “Copper” and “Alkali”??? I’m trying to find out which Companies these are for. They are NOT mentioned in the above List of Code Names… Thanks for any info!!!

What is Appen’s “Carmel Project” → Utterance Annotation and Evaluation – Does anyone know???
This is Microsoft Bing project aimed to learn search engine to recognize voice and human speech. I tried to work on this project a few years ago I found it difficult due to high requirements in terms of hearing, sound recognition and ability to transcribe sounds and words in to written labels…
Thanks for your prompt response! Doesn’t sound worth pursuing – “Transcribing” is not my forte (I’m a one finger VERY slow typist). AND I’ve found “Bing” to have very difficult, contradictory Guidelines. I’m still waiting to have the Yukon Project come back around for a chance to attempt at Qualifying for it. But Thank You so much for this information. As always, your input has been most HELPFUL!!! Best Regards – CL ☺
Hi, I have just qualified for the Appen Cable project, I was just wondering whether you could tell me anything about it? Do you just have to check everyday to see if a task is available and can you submit your hours even though you haven’t met the RPH target? Also, would you say it’s a decent project to work on or not worth my time? Would appreciate any advice.
Hello, I have no info about this project yet, could you briefly tell us about this project? What is project purpose? What customer does this project belong to?
Hi, it involves rating the relevance of the search output for Apple TV. You have to log into Baseline with your Apple id, is this similar to other projects?
Yes it is very similar to Echo and Index project, I assume rating logic and everything is very much alike…
I’ve had a look at them and they do look very similar! Would you say this kind of project (first come first served) is worth it?
When I worked on Echo project a few years ago the volume of work was OK, but then it was project test out, probably now the volume of work is more stable. As far as I understand you have already qualified, so try it out and share your experience with us later on…:)
Ok, thank you for your reply! I’m currently waiting for my baseline account to be made. Just out of interest, you said you worked on the Echo project a few years ago, did you get kicked out after a certain amount of time or did you decide to leave?
I had to leave the project because of too many projects running at the same time…
Hi Tim,
I have just started a new project Zeya ( today I accessed the platform for the first time, just set up my account) but I am not sure about the tasks, and I am reading a lot of negative comments within the chat from colleagues. The guidelines are super unclear and I think it will be more pain in the ass than a pleasant and smooth working process. The thing is that I am already working for other projects for Appen (Nile and Aztec and very happy with these two) and I think this one would be a bit too much and I am planning on leaving it before even start working it. Do you think they might ban me somehow from my other projects (which would be very stupid) and how do you leave a project? There is no information about this on the guidelines, and I wonder should I send a ticket notifying that I won’t be able to participate in this project anymore and I revoke myself from it or just not work and wait to be kicked out, which I don’t like much actually as an idea. What do you think?
Hello,
You may quit any particular project at any time and it will not affect your status on another project. Arrow project is good one indeed, but the issue is that Appen Arrow productivity metric in this project is unfair, in this connection if you have any chance to join Ads Assessor project at Lionbridge (the same project as Arrow), go for it, change your vendor, and you will not regret.
Hey Tim,
Thank you! I have sent an email and they didn’t answer me for a while but after insisting, I finally got an answer that they will remove me from this project. I still see it though in my list of projects… let’s see.
Thank you also for the advice, I will check Lionbridge project for sure.
Good luck with finding a right project for you!
Hi Tim, I’ve also been offered to qualify for Cable project. The first time I pressed the qualify button it just said ‘working, please wait’ for an hour, so I refreshed and the button still says ‘qualify’ rather than ‘check progress’. I’m using my phone hotspot and am currently in a regional area so I suppose this was a fault with my internet connection. Do you think the countdown on the exam may have started already? I’d like to continue to do a bit more research before I go for the exam.
Once you are approved to move to the next step (qualification), you will be notified about exam start and due dates as well as exam materials will be provided.
Hey Claire, I was also invited to do the test, and I applied many months ago and now I don´t remember what was the production expectation. Can you please tell me how many hours is the production, as I cannot find it on the platform, you know once they invite you to qualify you see this information at the beginning only but not afterwards. And now I need to know in order to make the decision as I have other projects going on at the moment… I will appreciate if you or someone else share this information with me here.
Hey Maya, all I can see is that the hours given are ‘average’ as stated on the project list on Appen Connect. I didn’t make any notes about the hours. I was invited to qualify for this project but it appeared with that pop up about being notified if any work becomes available. Somehow the qualification exam sometimes appeared while I was taking other exams, so I did manage to complete it that way, but I don’t know if I passed or failed.
Hey Claire, what you mean by “average” hours as stated on the project list? About the exam, I do have a link to the exam but I still wonder whether to proceed or not as I am not sure now if the min. working hours won’t be 20h per week, and I have other projects going on. What a mess…
I just mean that when you open Appen connect and there is a list of all the projects, it tells you whether the “average task volume” is average or otherwise. Cable is stated as ‘average’ as are all the projects on my list aside from Carmel (occasional utterance project) which is ‘below average’. Index and Wouri are stated as ‘above average’. I am currently studying for the Wouri exam.
Hey Claire,
Of course, right 🙂 I have failed the Cable exam, I just took it but I must say that the guidelines are very vague. I passed Wouri successfully around 5 days ago and waiting now to start working it. In any case I like it better than Cable from what I saw on the exam. Good luck!
Hey Maya, I have failed the first attempt at Wouri. Could you offer me some tips on passing the exam?
Hey Claire,
I don’t know how can I be of a help, I mean in terms of tips. I read the instructions and applied them. I did use Safari though for the web-search as recommended in instructions. Also, I had these open all the time and checking them while taking the test. I guess what also helped me a lot was the fact that I work in Arrow project which is very similar, and the instructions of Wouri are much simpler I must say. If you want to ask me questions, go ahead, may be that is a better way to be of a help for you 🙂 Cheers
Thanks maya. I just got to the second part of the exam and I failed. I’m going to see if I get any of the other projects otherwise I’ll be doing the exam for soft stone.
This exam preparation simulation tool was designed by me to help candidates to prepare for Google search engine evaluation project known as Yukon at Appen or Internet Assessor/Internet Safety Evaluator at Lionbridge: https://examsimulation.passleapforceexam.com
Hi Tim,
I’m working on Appen projects and now Appen has moved their platform to Appen Connect and I got a new project called Zeya. I have real the guidelines 4-5 times properly but not able to clear the quiz test. Some of my friends also get the invitation for Zeya project and they all are also failed in quiz. They are not providing the wrong answer. How can I clear the Zeya quiz test ?
Hi Tim,
Have you heard of the Sharp project with Appen? I have been offered to qualify for this project and cannot find any information on it.
Sharp is Apple Search Relevance task focused on improving the relevance of search results within different media categories. Raters must have access to an iOS device capable of running iOS 12.1.4
The rating is done via Apple baseline tool, the logic is very much alike to Echo music project.
Thanks Tim. I failed the first exam and will take the second now. So far I have failed all the exams I have taken. Is there a time limit on how long you must be finished after pressing the qualify button?
***I recently received an email from Appen-Connect stating: “Dear Search Engine Evaluator, We currently have new opportunities in → Project Noyo, Project Tonkin Express, Project Tonkin…” Has anyone ever heard of these and what Companies they are for??? Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks – CL***☺
*Nevermind → they are finally showing up on my “Appen-Connect Projects List Page” and they state the following: for Noyo “This project is only a one-time Survey task and not a long-term project… Requires answering some questions about particular searches you have made on Facebook”. AND for Tonkin Express: “Short Survey about the ‘Today In’ Feature on Facebook…” To answer my own Question → these are just one-time short Surveys for some short cash w/ Facebook. Nothing requiring long & arduous Qualifications. Thanks Anyway! Regards – CL*
Hi Tim
I have just qualified for the Appen Gisworld project, I was just wondering whether you could tell me anything about it?
Hello, at the moment I have no info about this project.
Hi Tim,
I’m on registering the project, Arrow (Appen) and I have a new gmail account named Arrow project.
But I haven’t had a exam yet.
I’ve my status as below:
1. COMPLETED – Register for project
2. IN PROGRESS – Basic qualification package to be reviewed by Appen Butler Hill Pty Ltd.
But I got a mail from LionBridge today offering me Internet Assessor.
I’d like to go with LionBridge. What shall I do?
Go for Internet Assessor, and if Appen invites you for Arrow project qualification you may arrange the second account, how to arrange multiple accounts in a safe way read here:https://passleapforceexam.com/2017/12/02/multiple-accounts-safe-solution/
Does anyone work in Wouri project? I am about to take the qualification test and I was wondering about experiences in general with this project? Tim do you anything about it? I assume it is for Apple and it is related to search engine results but still I would appreciate opinions. Thank you.
Hello, the goal of the project is to understand the user intention as represented by the query and determine how well or how completely the result satisfies the user’s need.Yes indeed, the customer is Apple, and the testing platform is Safari browser. At the moment I am in the process of studying this project, for this reason I cannot do much feedback on this project.
Hey Tim, I passed the test and I am waiting now to start working on this one (Wouri project), let’s see.
I read some people here saying something about 30h in total across different projects but I never saw this information officially in any instructions from Appen so I am a bit confused. How is this possible since internal instructions of projects state in some cases only minimum working hours and no limit for maximum, and they also state that you can work in other projects simultaneously. Can you please share your thoughts on this?
In Appen projects there is no limitation in terms of working hours for independent contractors, however part-time employees at Raterlabs in Yukon project (USA) have a certain limitation in terms of working hours.
Hey Tim, I see, now we are talking 🙂
Hi Tim
I was denied trying to apply for Loionbridge many times, all came back with an unsuccessful application email. I read your article about it and followed your tips and selected “never worked or applied in the past”. I signed up the application at home, I did not do so with a public IP. I have a fairly decent resume and CV as well. I don’t understand why am I getting denied every time. I live in California and I read somewhere in the past that Lionbridge does not hire Californians. Is this true? I needed some extra side income and I don’t understand why they keep denying my application.
Hi Tim, I have been offered to qualify for Fletcher STXM – UK project at Appen. Do you know anything about this project?
I have no idea about this project, it seems to be small local project.
Hey Tim,
I was wondering if you know which company is the Lionbridge “Internet Safety Evaluator” position for? Thank you
It is Google Search Engine Evaluation project: https://passleapforceexam.com/2019/01/29/how-to-pass-appen-yukon-and-lionbridge-internet-assessor-exam/
Hey Tim, Thank you, I am getting confused will all these names of the same project within the same company. So, if I understand correctly from what I have read here in your blog ( very helpful I must say and thank you for running it) I cannot apply if I already work in Arrow ( Google at Appen), right?
In fact I tested the case which is applying/working for Arrow (Appen) and Internet Safety Evaluator at Lionbridge from one IP and it works, I assume because rating platforms IP database is different so these two projects do not create IP address conflict, but keep in mind that multiple accounts are still against vendors policy so you should keep it secret.
Hey Tim,
Thank you for this! I might decide to apply at Lionbridge too as I am tired of the smaller and badly paid Appen projects…the best one for me, at least from the ones I am working, is Arrow… suddenly everything else is 8 dollars per hour…. anyhow, I will read again your posts about multiple accounts if I decide to apply at the other company too.
be careful of applying to both lionbridge and appen cause when they found out I was doing the same tool with the same user lionbridge said they were unable to add me to the project after I qualified
Get more info about projects compatibility here:https://passleapforceexam.com/2017/03/14/how-much-can-you-earn-with-leapforce-lionbridgeappen/
Hi Tim, thanks for giving me the link to your simulation exam. I tried the demo and I got this result:
Congratulations, you have demonstrated a sufficient level of understanding of rating concepts, your overall score is above 70%.Your chance of passing a real exam is very high!
However I have failed about five projects for Appen that I have taken exams for. Could it be an IP address problem as I registered my IP address originally at the airport when I received the first acceptance email?
Demo version has only 1 task which allows to see how this simulation tool works, but it is not enough to get prepared. The full version has 7 tasks which represent the most typical ‘Needs Met’ and PQ tasks.

Does anyone know exactly which Search Engine the “Rattle Project” is for??? Thanks for any info!!!
Hello,
For Tim or any one to provide advice***
I have recently encountered a slowed down rate of work with projects? wondering if there was a PM or someone you were in touch with that could increase working in projects
I use Instagram and would love to do ratings for a project on that platform but have yet to be invited to partake in that one.
I also see a plethora of projects listed on your blog but it seems like those are not on my appen connect portal. Does appen still use the original site? I don’t see any of the projects above to qualify one and was wondering if anyone could put in a word for me! I have good standing in my other current project, but there is not enough hours (less than 10 hours a week currently*) Thanks!
Thien
The projects availability depends on your locale and business needs of customers in your locale. Normally you should see all available project on your personal page on https://connect.appen.com/qrp/core/login
You also may check for available opportunities at Lionbridge:http://www.thesmartcrowd.com/workers/job-opportunities/country/russia/#jobs-list
Thanks for this list!
Anyway, does anyone have more details about the project “Kemi” from Appen?
I would also like to know more about the Kemi project di Appen , can you explain to me Tim? Do you know anything about it? what needs to be done ‘
Hello i took the project Kemi test but i did not pass it since the questions are very tricky. Can somebody that already passed it help me with that please?
I would rather go for well-established projects like Yukon, Arrow, Shasta or Apple relate projects like Echo, Cable or Sharp.
I read that Lionbridge accept only wire transfer. Is it possibile to do a wire transfer on prepaid card?
Wire transfer has to do nothing with card itself, you need to have normal saving account in order to receive payment via wire transfer.
Hi Tim I have been assigned to the Australian English speech collection project. It’s a task based payed project. I’m just wondering if you have any idea if the speech recording projects are ip sensitive? It’s entirely AMR based. What would happen if I was over seas and working on the project?
Hello, according to policy most of projects can be worked out only in a country of project locale, however a few projects can be done from anywhere, I recommend you to check this info with your vendor or contract.
Thanks Tim. I don’t suppose anyone has any idea how long this project will last?
Does anyone know exactly which Search Engine Company the “RATTLE Project” is for??? Thanks for any info!!!
Do you know what is the Appen Tonkin project?
hi Tim,
have any idea about Nida and Diego porject at Appen? Thanks in advance.
I was denied trying to apply for Loionbridge many times, all came back with an unsuccessful application email. I read your article about it and followed your tips and selected “never worked or applied in the past”. I signed up the application at home, I did not do so with a public IP. Have you worked for Appen? They keep track of users from both and you are unable to work on both contracts
I did in the past. I worked for Appen UHRS back in 2014 and 2015. Then one day Appen sent me an email saying my contract was over. I haven’t done any work for Appen ever since, as matter of fact I already deleted my Appen account years ago. Does that mean I no longer allow to work on Lionbridge because of my past affiliation with Appen? On Lionbridge application, I did select “no” under the part that asked if I ever worked for Appen, Clickworker, etc. So is there any other way around to get hire at this point? Thanks.
Hello,
In your case the most likely reason is that Appen and Lionbridge do not hire raters in California due to min. wage issue. In US Appen pays 10$ per hour, thus they cannot hire raters in California. As far as I know Lionbridge pays 12$ per hour, but their weekly hours requirement are not in a line with California part-time employees requirements in terms of weekly hours…
In your case you may try to become an agent with Appen by applying from another state. The detailed guide how to arrange this set up you may read here: https://passleapforceexam.com/2019/03/17/how-to-work-at-appen-and-lionbridge-from-abroad-without-any-risk-vpn-teamviwer-free-solution-how-to-apply-qualify-and-work-from-abroad-for-any-appen-projects-of-any-local/
If you decide to implement this solution I will guide you through the process.
I worked using Appen Global and was excellent, suddenly I was told not to continue because they had enough data from me and the job was over. I have been offered different projects using Appen Connect, let’s see what happens.
Hi. I was wondering if anyone would know something about the SALUDA project on Appen Connect. It´s the first project i´m going to try to qualify for. Thanks
At the moment I have no information about this project, If you have any info please share with us!
Saluda is pretty much like Nile, just with additional questions.
Hi. I was wondering if anyone knows something about the SALUDA project at Appen. This would be the first time i apply to qualify for a project. Thank you.
Hello, i have been selected for Kemi project. I tried the test but i failed it, i need some help since they give you a second chance to do it and i don’t want to fail it this time.
I really appreciate any kind of information about the test, thanks!
Hi Ina, may I ask what the Kemi project is about? Thank you!
Hello Ina. ı have already failed on my first attemp too. I would like to ask did u pass that exam later? Any help would be great. Thank you.
Hello Ina, did you manage to pass the exam? Do you mind to help me?
Hello anyone, is there anyone who can help me about the Kemi project. The questions are too tricky and I have never seen someone who passed it.
I’m trying to find the guidelines for the Carmel Live Chat Qualification, so i can take the quiz. While taking the quiz, it says to read the guidelines and answer the question, but they are nowhere to be found.
Do you know why these states are excluded from search evaluation jobs? I worked for Appen and one day all my jobs to qualify for disappeared. Turns out people in other states also have this problem. These are the states listed from Sykes that they cannot hire from, which is similar to the ones on Appen: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Massachusetts, Montana, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, Washington and West Virginia.
Hello,
The reason is that in these states the minimum hourly wage rate is higher than Appen and Sykes can offer.
If you you live in one of those states I recommend you to apply for rater position at Lionbridge.
Thank you so much, this would explain a lot. Can I work for Lionbridge if I have already worked for Appen or would that be against their terms?
You can apply and work with Lionbridge, provided you currently not working at Yukon or Arrow project at Appen.
Yes, you can.
